Whether you're here to kickstart your day or indulge in a leisurely lunch, Cafe Demitasse's menu offers an array of enticing choices bound to satisfy every craving.
Signature dishes like the “Friend With Benedicts”, a delicate yet hearty take on the breakfast classic, showcase perfectly-poached eggs atop fresh sourdough—a sentiment echoed by reviewer Fergus Blakiston, who praises the poached eggs on toast as “the best you’ll ever eat.” For those chasing wholesome greens, the “Eat Your Greens” plate delivers vibrantly fresh and nourishing flavors, while the cleverly named “Get Laid” and “Crunchy Chai” bring an exciting twist to classic café fare and drinks.
Savour the playful edge of the “Tickle My Pickle” sandwich, layered with pastrami, Swiss cheese, pickles, beetroot, and aioli—an experience Miriam Ott fondly recommends for its tasty, bold flavor combination. Meanwhile, sweet-tooth patrons will be drawn to the “Butterscotch Banana Frenchie”, a divine blend of textures and tastes that delights with every bite.
What truly sets Cafe Demitasse apart is their unwavering commitment to customer care. Even when the kitchen was closing, Jasmine Hunt recalls the kindness of the staff who still served her a steaming, comforting soup of the day accompanied by divine sourdough—an infinitely thoughtful gesture that left a lasting impression.
The café’s layout includes a lovely smoke-free deck, perfect for a tranquil spot to watch the world go by while enjoying your meal or morning coffee. Whether you're bustling in for an energizing caffeine fix or unwinding on a holiday day, the relaxed, happy-go-lucky environment is unmistakable.

Wanna try the best coffee in Tauranga? And the best poached eggs on toast you’ll ever eat? Then head on down to Café Demitasse on Cameron Road. They are open early for your on-the-way-to-work caffeine fix. Or, if, like us, you are just kicking off another lazy holiday day, this is a great place to start. Sit out on the deck (now Smoke Free...well done youse guyses!) and watch the world pass by while you sip your chosen brew. And, I gotta say, the poached eggs on toast I had at Café Demitasse, with a pot of English Breakfast tea, was one of the best I’ve ever had. But how, I hear you ask, can you say that something as simple as eggs on toast be such a standout? To which I say: “don’t just take my word for it...go and try them for yourself!”
